Publicity Package

One thing I had to do before my book came out was help out with my publicity package. Part of that package is Q & A's. Questions about my book, about the process, then I wrote out answers. Then, for instance back in May when I was interviewed, I didn't have to pause to come up with a thoughtful answer, I had my answers ready to go. Not a lot has happened with those Q & A's since that interview though. So, I thought I'd share a couple. :)

How does your book parallel real life?
Loss and heartache are inevitable in life. But time and time again I’ve seen people do amazing things. They don’t just pick themselves up, but the ones they love as well. They restart and they find joy in life again.
Do you relate to any of your characters?

I relate more to Natalie than the others. I understand her unconditional love for her son, her motherly, nurturing side. I don’t know the insurmountable loss of a spouse, but I do know the loss of losing someone you love dearly and the heartache of waking up every morning without them.

Oober exciting, right? Haha!
But I do know what I would ask about my favorite book... Anyone else? Or do you just close it content? and I'm the only crazy...

Happy Reading!

Hoping it's more than just me and Dad there...

I am super excited to go back to my hometown to share my book!

{Little secret... Elton Town is based off of Evanston}. I was born and raised there and I'm really grateful to have grown up in such a great place with such wonderful people around me.

My mom-in-law offered to let me use her and my dad-in-laws store, Rip's, for a signing. {My favorite is the fountain club soda and the onion rings!! YUM.}
And then the Library in Evanston called me up and asked me to come speak--and I really am hoping someone other than my sweet dad is there to listen to me! :)

So... here's where I'll be this weekend:
And it would kind of be awesome if my Evanston peeps could help me out and share the news. XOXO

Reviews

I am so grateful when people take a couple of minutes and review my book! It really makes such a difference.
I've been trying to do more GoodReads and Amazon reviews myself--it helps out readers and authors alike!

I want this for my own record, so here are a few reviews. :)

I could not put this book down! A beautiful story of hope, love, and forgiveness, my heart rejoiced in the beautiful simplicity of a sweet love story. I was laughing, I was crying, and I was downright nervous when the gun was pulled. As gripping as it is romantic, you will fall in love with the characters as they learn to fall in love again, too. This book is a restorer of hope; it's like home.

A quick reference of my favorite romances to put my romance radar in perspective: Anne of Greene gables; pride and prejudice; leap year; the proposal; safe haven; the princess bride; Pam and Jim (the office) and so many others. I love romance! What this book has: a beautifully told double romance with a suspenseful component. The romance stories of two women are told and aligned in a strong friendship. The characters are engaging and unique. You will love all of them and the Wyoming community they are apart of. Life isn't perfect and we all screw up sometimes including in our relationships. These characters show us you can get it right, even if it is the second time around. This is a great sampling of real love, strong bonds of friends, family, and community. It really is all the things that make home feel like home, thus the clever title.
What this book doesn't have: cliche romance, lame dialogue, 50 shades of dysfunction.

It's been two days and this book is still with me! Two women from two completely different worlds. Both broken by past love. New life and love will bring them to a place they've always wanted to be; home. You will love not only the story, but also this great new author's writing style and talent! Wholesome without being naive or cliche; the authentic emotions in this story will sweep you away!

If I could give this book 10 stars, I would. I loved every minute I spent reading this novel and haven't stopped thinking about the characters since I finished it. My only regret is that I finished it too fast! I can't wait to read it again and look forward to more from this author!

Loved it. Like Home is a delightful little book, following the parallel journeys of Marcela and Natalie to find love against the wide-open skies of the Wyoming country. The characters take root deep in your heart and feel as familiar as family.

The absolute best is when you read a new book and find new friends. Ms. Atkinson's characters were so real, their emotions so authentic, I felt like they could have been my sisters. I especially identified with the self loathing and guilt both Marcela and Natalie felt, each for different reasons, but both feeling isolated and trapped. I really enjoyed watching the friendship develop between these two very different women. This is not a book to read over time. It grabs you from the first pages in the cemetery and doesn't release you till you have finished the last page. So carve out some time, settle in and enjoy.

"Like Home" is a compelling story filled with romance, love, and suspense. Atkinson's writing style will make you fall in love with her characters and feel their struggles and their successes. This story is a true testament to what home truly means. I fell in love with Wyoming all over again. As a avid reader and a lover for a good romance I recommend this book to anyone who has ever wanted to have a place to call home. This book is one to read again and again and definitely has a place on my favorite books list!

A delightful read. I enjoyed every page. The characters and their stories grabbed my heart and pulled me right into the fold. Little Jason made me laugh and cry with his honest emotions. I finished the last page feeling like family. Looking forward to the next novel from this up and coming young author.
