The grass is always greener on the other side...
Why is that?
I was thinking about this the other night as we ate dinner. I never eat without little fingers on my plate. My 2 year old is always pretty sure my food is better than hers.
Even though our meals are almost exact.
See....
My plate:
Her plate...
And yet I still have this action--
going on throughout my entire meal.
Fingers. Fingers.
She can't just be happy with the food on her own plate... the exact same food. Silly baby.
Really, we do the same thing as adults though, it's just other things, bigger things that are on the other "side", the other "plate" that look o so much better than what we've got.
Cheryl Crow sings in one of her songs:
It's not having what you want, it's wanting what you've got.
I fell in love with that line the day I heard it! Isn't that the truth! It's not having a new house, car, purse, shoes... whatever it is we think we can't live without. It's wanting what we've already been blessed with that will make us content and happy.
I like to remind myself of this... often. It's important!
Want what you've got!
Love it!--before you lose it. :)
