Chick-Flick... I mean Chick-Lit

Did you know there was a genre called: Chick-Lit?
Yeah, you probably did, but I’m not that smart… Even though that’s apparently what I write!
I have been a fan of Chick-Flicks since I was around 7 years old... it's true, I'm a sucker for a sweet love story, always have been. Which by the way is different from romance.
I have fond memories of watching Tammy and the Bachelor with my mom as a very small girl. From there we moved on to My Best Friend's Wedding, You've got mail...  I could really go on and on, you get the gist.
Anyway, I went to a writer's conference last month. I learned a lot of things. But one of the most valuable was my genre. I had it all wrong. And when the adorable Jo Wilkins, publisher of Ink and Quill Publishing, explained to me that my genre is actually Women's Fiction: Chick-Lit, a light went on. And I saw my sweet mom and I sprawled on her bed, bon bons in hand, giggling at a good ol' Chick-Flick.
And I immediately knew she was right.
Yep, that's what I write.
